The club started with a notice in the Ilkley Gazette in 1973, asking if anyone would be interested in forming some kind of riding club.
There was a good turn out to the first meeting at the Grove Road Rooms and it was agreed to go ahead.
The first newsletter was written in 1974 on the approach of the clubs first anniversary.
With 180 members already and a strong events and social calendar, it is clear the club had a good start!
