Glorious Goodwood is one of the highlights of the summer Flat racing calendar. The five-day meeting sees some of the biggest stars in the sport feature at Grade One level in their respective divisions.
Here is a look at some of the leading thoroughbreds set to be in action this year at the Sussex-based venue.
Irish star Kyprios won a fantastic renewal of the Goodwood Cup two years ago when he got the better of Stradivarius in a close finish to the 2m contest. Unfortunately for his connections, he could not defend his crown in the race in 2023 due to injury.

Aidan O’Brien’s runner returned to the Ascot Gold Cup earlier this season and proved he was back to his best, winning the Royal Ascot feature. He is now odds-on at 8/13 in the racing odds to regain his crown in the Goodwood Cup.
The six-year-old is likely to be one of the leading horse racing tips for the meeting this year as he has had a faultless campaign to date, winning all three of his assignments. He looks set to dominate the stayers division this season, just like he did in 2022.
Richard Hannon’s colt Rosallion is on course to end the season as one of the leading three-year-olds in his age division. The son of Blue Point finished second in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket back in May. He did not have to wait much longer to become a Classic winner, as he scored in the Irish equivalent of the race just a few weeks later at the Curragh.
The British horse proved his class again over 1m in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, reversing his form with 2,000 Guineas winner Notable Speech. Hannon’s runner seems to be getting better with every start this year.
Rosallion could take on Henry Longfellow, Notable Speech and Haatem in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. He has finished ahead of all three of those horses this season so he goes into that race as the one they will all have to beat.

With victories at Royal Ascot, Glorious Goodwood and the Breeders’ Cup Championship over the last couple of years, Big Evs has had a lot of success in the sprint division. The pick of those triumphs was the latter when he won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint at Santa Anita last November.
Michael Appleby’s impressive sprinter made a winning return to action in the Westow Stakes at York’s Dante Meeting back in May. He then finished third of 17 runners in the King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Appleby will be planning a return to the Breeders’ Cup in November, but before then, he will be hoping his horse can add another major prize in the King George Qatar Stakes. He showed his liking for Goodwood last season over the same course and distance, so connections will be confident of more success.
Glorious Goodwood takes place between 30th July and 3rd August. Tickets remain available for all five days of the meeting.
